About REACH (Youth Summer Mission Trip)

What if your child could build strong relationships with their peers, serve others in ways you can’t imagine and experience God’s presence in a powerful way all in one week?

Well, they can!

REACH is going to become your child’s springboard experience to a new life of engagement with friends and with Christ - and a new world of personal responsibility. Their life and their world will be transformed by participating in REACH.

It’s why our families have protected this week in July (Saturday after the 4th through the following Friday) since 2005. REACH is our summer mission trip to Roanoke and is replacing SPY. We chose REACH, because it was developed by the same person who made SPY the transformational experience that it was. See below for the overview of the week.

The cost for youth is $375, which can be reduced through fundraising (scholarships are also available); siblings receive $100 off. The fee for adults is $125.* Students must have completed 6th grade through just completed 12th grade (limited space for junior chaperones, ages 19-24). Youth many invite friends outside LUMC to participate as well.

Register here by March 31.

*Adults who participate in REACH are required to provide transportation during the full week for youth to and from job sites and activities, as well as be full participants and mentors to youth.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. We will hold a “First-timers” orientation on June 9 at 11 am for parents and youth.

Here’s an overview of what to expect during the week at REACH, which will be fleshed out during the orientation. Youth will be in teams of about 8, with 2 adults each for the work sites.

Packing list: clothing, cot, sleeping bag, water bottle, hat, sunscreen, shower supplies (more detailed list will be sent later).

We will meet at 12:30 and drive to Roanoke in a caravan of vehicles.
